I've never known a period when news has reached me of so many extant medals to the BY. This week, it's a couple of British War Medals to 30474 Sergeant Herbert Storey and 94 Corporal Edgar Vine. Herbert Storey was an inhabitant of Offord Cluny, in Huntingdonshire, who enlisted in 1914 but didn't get to serve abroad until after March 1917. Edgar Vine's medal has been listed online by the Tees Museums group as part of their inventory. I'll make contact with the group and try to establish how they came to possess a medal to a man who lived and died in Henlow, Bedfordshire. Edgar was an old Beds Yeoman who would have enlisted early in 1904. Oddly, Edgar never received a Territorial Force Efficiency Medal, despite the fact that he served through the war. Perhaps he never applied; perhaps he missed a camp or two. We'll never know, I suspect.....
